Rom i byen

Community Installation | 2014

Kristparken and Akerselven, Oslo

Rom i Byen for Byen (Room in the City for the City) was an art installation developed in collaboration with Mie Dinesen and granted by the Agency of Cultural Affairs of Oslo City in 2014. The project aimed to integrate art into urban daily life, utilizing the public as the design generator. Focused on Oslo's green areas, often untouched by art and architecture, the installations invited the public to question and reimagine the usage of these spaces. Through idea and design workshops with 5th graders from Møllergate Skole and 1st-year students from the Oslo School of Architecture, 52 paper models were crafted by the students. The resulting two wooden installations reflect their visions of engaging public spaces through function and curiosity, emphasizing the importance of claiming space and engaging in one's own context.
