ROM I BYEN FOR BYEN

Workshop | 2014

Møllergate Skole and Oslo School of Architecture (AHO), Oslo

Rom i byen for byen was developed in collaboration with artist Mie Dinesen, with the intention to place community engaging art in the green urban areas of Oslo.

During daylong workshops 5th grade students from the elementary school Møllergate skole and 1st year students of AHO (Oslo School of Architecture) physically visualized their ideas of a spatial structure in their daily context.

A total of 52 paper models were created, which were further translated and merged into the design of two wooden installation, one for each site, with each it’s specific user group. The design reflected the student’s ideas and concept as well as spatial and social reflections. Since the students also was a part of the construction on the final design, the structures were design with a simple base, and became complex within its repetitions.

The project was one of 17 art submissions granted by the agency of Cultural Affairs of Oslo City to embellish the urban areas of Oslo in 2014.
